What is the residential roofing process?
When building a new home, the roof consists of wood underlayment, a waterproof barrier, a covering such as shingles or metal sheeting, and soffit and fascia to finish off the roof and make it watertight. When it comes to putting a new roof on an existing home, the process depends on the budget, type of roof a homeowner chooses, and the condition of the existing roof. In a typical roof replacement, Titan Construction roofing contractors will remove all of the layers of shingles that are currently on the roof and any waterproof barrier. They will then examine the wood for warping, cracking, signs of water damage or wear and tear. Any pieces of wood underlayment that need to be replaced will be replaced at that time. They will then lay down any waterproof barriers that are necessary for the type of roofing materials they will be using, and following it with shingles, tile, metal sheeting, or wood shakes.

How can I know whether my roof needs to be repaired or replaced?
Roofs that have been on your home for 20 years or more will generally need to be replaced. The excepetion to this general rule is if your roof has sustained damage from a natural disaster or other incident. In this case, the only way to know if your roof can be repaired or if it needs to be replaced is to have a qualified Titan Construction roofing contractor come to your home and give you an estimate. They will climb onto your roof, do a thorough inspection, take photographs, and ask you questions about any leaks or problems you have been having. They will then talk to you about your options for repair. If your roof needs to be replaced, they can discuss roofing materials, budget, time frame and whether you have a homeowners insurance claim that will cover part or all of the damage.
