Skylight Installation Basics
Skylights are basically windows on your roof that allow light to pour into your home from above. When selecting the right skylight for you, it is important to consider whether you want some of the following features.
- UV Coating – Having a skylight with a UV coating will keep your furnishings, floorings, and paint from fading from light exposure.
- Ventilation – Many skylights come with optional ventilation systems that can allow warm air to escape through the roof. This can save on energy costs, especially in homes with cathedral ceilings.
- Insulated Glazing – Many skylights come with a protective insulated glazing that will allow light to filter through the window, but not heat. This is especially helpful in lowering cooling costs.
- Blinds and Shades – Like the windows in your home, skylights are available with mechanical blinds and shades that can be drawn with the touch of a button.

Replacing a Skylight
Whether your skylight is weathered, leaking or simply doesn’t meet your needs, Titan Construction can replace it with a state-of-the-art, custom skylight. In order to ensure your skylight stays watertight for years to come, our roofing contractors will examine the opening for signs of water damage or rotting wood. After removing the skylight, they will also remove and save any roofing materials before making necessary repairs to the opening. Once the opening is properly reinforced, our roofing contractors will set a new skylight and replace the flashing around it to ensure it remains watertight for years to come.

Commercial Skylight Installation
One of the best ways to save on electricity, heating and cooling costs in a commercial building is the installation of commercial-grade skylights. From small vaulted skylights similar to what you would see in a residential building, to a continuous vault system, commercial skylights are designed to be energy efficient and hurricane rated in addition to providing fall protection to those working on the roof of your building. With UV and blast resistant glazes, commercial skylights are designed to withstand the elements, protect your interior, and provide ample lighting without the additional cost of electricity throughout the day.
